Since our founding in 2010, Aila has helped retailers create exceptional shopping experiences through our unique combination of customer-focused design and scalable manufacturing. Our technology not only leads our competitors, it’s changing the way brands and customers interact in brick-and-mortar stores.

Formerly called Padloc, Aila has rapidly evolved since its founding beyond simple locking enclosures to offer a range of sleek and technologically-sophisticated tablet systems. But we’ve stayed true to our roots - the security features and versatile mounting options that put Padloc on the map are still the foundation of each Aila enclosure.

Aila is helping retailers evolve, too, by providing innovative ways to enhance the shopping experience for customers. We are sparking the integration of tablets and mobile devices into the retail environment and helping brands meet customers where they are - in the aisles.

Jason Gulbinas

CEO and Co-Founder

Before Aila, Jason founded and managed a product development consultancy, Product1 Design, which he ran for 10 years and worked with clients including J&J and Polaroid. Though his expertise lies in building businesses, his roots are in product development: Jason previously held active program management and engineering roles in high tech, consumer, and medical device companies and is a graduate of Boston University and Babson’s MBA program with a focus on Entrepreneurship.

Matt Kowalczyk

CTO and Co-Founder

Matt is passionate about developing transformative technologies, and is the product architect behind Aila's next generation retail devices. Before creating the vision for Aila, Matt developed groundbreaking products for many of Boston's top hardware companies and design consultancies, including consumer lighting arrays for Color Kinetics and a first of kind robotic prosthetic foot for BiOM. He has spent most of his career leading technology commercialization efforts for new ventures, with a focus on imaging systems, robotics, and consumer devices. Matt holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College and BS from Rutgers in Mechanical Engineering.

Alex Goodwin

VP Marketing and Co-Founder

Alex is a senior manager experienced in bringing breakthrough technologies to market within a startup environment as Product and Marketing lead. He led Product and Development at three successful venture-backed startups - Rethink Robotics, Brontes Technologies and SensAble Technologies - from the early prototype stage through early revenues. Alex holds an MBA from Harvard and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

TJ Paterick

TJ Paterick

VP Sales

TJ is a seasoned retail technology executive who specializes in spearheading sales and business development for transformational start-up companies. Before joining Aila, his work in Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley led two start-ups to acquisition, and a third that has grown into a global business. TJ has helped companies raise over $200 million in venture funding and collectively provide Amazon-like tools for analytics, measurement and mobile engagement in the Retail, CPG and Hospitality industries. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College and a BA from the University of Richmond.
